Anyone using Acrylic conformal coatings? We're looking into using one, but one of the drawbacks is the odor. We have problems with any material that has a distinctive odor and our operators. Also the lines we would use it require repair after coating. How easy/difficult is it to remove an acrylic?

We have just got involved in conformal coating, with mixed results. We are machine spraying and have experienced various machine issues. Another one was the consistency of the material being sprayed, we mixed it ourselves (badly?). We now buy it pre-blended. I know their will be a learning curve with every new process, but do not go in thinking that its like SMT manufacture, ie repeatable and fast (to start with), it has its own quirks, they will only be ironed out with experience.

We've been conformally coating for years (primarily silicones) and yes we have issues with both equipment and materials. We just don't have experience with acrylics.

We too have recently got involved with conformal coating. We have had a good deal of sucess of cleaning the material off with gun wash. An aggessive solvent that does not harm the electronics and evaporates leaving no film
