Quad IIIc/IVc programming question | 10 August, 2005

I've got a new board (actually a new panel...a 4 up, with one row rotated, where it was a 2 up panel with no rotation before) that runs fine on the IVc but not on the IIIc. I've used the same reference points for the image rotation (fiducials) on both machines, but the pattern is off something like 40x60 mils in X and Y on the IIIc, on the rotated (second) row only.

I'm just getting my feet wet on these machines and my boss has never done rotations like this so neither of us are particularly experienced with this. Any ideas?

Tomorrow I'm going to try using a pad for the image rotation reference, but why would the fiducials work on one machine and not the other if they were the issue? Any ideas?

Quad/Tyco should have some old 'q-tips' on programming help for that type of board on a 'c-series machine'that i wrote a long time ago. I cant remember anymore exactly how to help you but they should have some paperwork on doing it. It also is a 'slim' possibility that there could be a firmware limitation with rotated images on a 3c machine....since that is one of the oldest machines of the series. Hope this helps!!!

I'm not at work today (fighting some mysterious summer bug that's hung with me for a month now) but I'll see if anyone at Quad remembers the IIIc on my next day in.

no problem. Tell them to check old 'q-tips' and i believe it was called 'c-series odd placement' and there is a basic 'how to' on doing multi-rotated boards. Its not easy and could frustrate you but it will definatly work.
