Hi Mike,
I haven't tried the 0201s with a Hyrda, but after seeing 20 reviews of your message without a response, I'll try and share my experience with 0402s on a non-Hydra machine.
The 0402s are slow, but I managed to get some speed by maxing out the x, y and other variables within the package information. The last thing I did was to alter the acceleration for z. Currently, I am using .5 mm 'up slow' @ 80 mm/s. The z speed is set to 'low', but this is mainly due to some .030" boards we are running. Bouncing them off the boards was a problem.
The vision on our system is a must, since we have the squaring jaws (Hydra use this?) and that does not work too well, especially if you want to keep the empty nozzle out of your paste. At this small, you will measure the nozzle and if your parameters are not dialed in perfectly, you will put an empty nozzle within the paste.
I'm used to Panasonic machines, which do not require the nozzle sense to be 'lifted' for placement. I apologize if this message seems elementary to MyData programmers, but just wished to say, "I feel your pain!" Hope this helps in any way possible.
Dan
After that, I just use an Agilis feeder as close to the Y-wagon as possible. I have had to slow the tape speed down to 'high' instead of 'highest' due to some bouncing of the parts, but after that, it seems to work very well.
