Hi,

looked through the forum but can't find answer to my problem - I got .ger files from pcb supplier but need .gbx any ideas what tool to use to make it convert???

While we're unsure what you're trying to accomplish, .GER files are viewer files. The Gerber Plot File Viewer (GerberView) is a Windows based application that allows you to view Gerber plot and NC Drill files.

You need a .GBX file or some other file where can access the data. Gerber file extensions are often .GBR, .GBX, or .ART. Sometimes extensions such as .TOP and .BOT or .SMT and .SMB are used instead of the .GB_ type extensions.

from supplier of pcb I get .ger files, but in Dek OLE I need .gbx files to have a pcb picture as a help - Is it possible to covert one to another to use it properly in OLE??? (with CAD or CircuitCam or other???) or maybe I need .gbx files directly? I'm not fully familiar with all extensions for Gerbers best regards

Have you opened the file and looked at it? I don't know if you know what a gerber file looks like, but if you don't you can always compare it to a .gbx file that you have that already works.

There is no standard on file extensions for gerber data. Your .ger file may in fact be an RS-247X gerber file, which is what I think you are looking for.

Did you try renaming it with a .gbx extension to see if your Dek likes it better that way?

Other than those simple suggestions I can't help without seeing the file.

I started to look for the converter after couple of tries on renamed files, but when I read here that it should be 'the same' I renamed two files and it works now - what a heck??? thanx anyway looks like it's solved for me now :) I was almost ready to buy an expencive soft that I could use in 2% of it's capabilities ;) cheers
