Hi guys

Just wanna know what software, technique you use to creat assembly work sheet? do you have develop specific application do you know software where everything is done? do you use Soft like Autocad to draw our board and import the PCB into it?

We use a program called Circuitcam by Aegis. It allows you to import all types of Cad and associate the parts to the different processes. Ex. SMT, Radial, Inspection, Hand Insert. (Customizable depending on your process)

Once this is complete it will create visual aids for each process almost automatically. (Color coded per part number)

I do things manually. I export the gerbers I need to a dxf. Then I do all my special instructions and color coding in AutoCad. I would like to see what CircuitCam can do.

So, nobody uses digital camera's huh? Operators like "real pictures" the most.

Sure, it looks technical to use a gerber-exported dxf file, bla-bla-bla...I used to do that in 1995... but picture's worth a thousand words......

We do our work instructions manually..... taking pictures of actual parts and process. But I have this idea of converting the conventional printed WI's to video instructions. I am now proposing a flat screen per work stations and video will play on each station from one pc.

I proposed something similar. Not video though. We kicked around going "paperless". They just can't handle the expense for a comp at every station. Also, all the training involved....it is scary to think about. It would be awesome though to see it in action. Theoretically. B

Picture are great but yuo need to take them in the same times as the first run. You can't do it before, so you people loose some time when you take the picture and are not quiet sure what to do if your not able to be with them. That's why it is good to have paper done before no?

I do it before the kit hits the floor. Most of the time it is not important have the solder in the pic. If you just need to show orientation etc... I will snap a pick on the first board that gets a wire add or something, but it really only takes 5 minutes and none of the workers time.

We have gone paperless using the aegis software, you can also add the digital photos when needed. The comp. expense was large, (as well as the training) but it has been worth it.

You might also want to look @ Blueprint. We do use CircuitCAM for SMT program generation; we've found it's less effective for THT and Post assembly operations. We are also considering on-line documentation; it has shown promise in our final assembly area.
