Mydata My12 package creation | 25 October, 2010

Hello, we just purchased a My12 machine. We now have to create every single package ourself - a very time consuming work. We asked our Mydata vendor if it is not possible to buy a package library to save time. He said, it is not possible - every company is building his own library. Is that really true? Is the no other way? Any help apreciated.

It's pretty much true, every company builds their own package database...usually on an as you go basis, meaning you create packages as you need them.

If you bought the machine from MyData, it should have shipped with at least the basic packages in place from MyData. They generally include basic chip component packages (1206, 0805, 0603, etc) as will as the basic IC packages (SOIC, TSSOP, MSSOP, etc), and you can build your package database from there.

If you're using Aegis Industrial Software's Circuitcam Package for off line programming, the package database can also be created there, and uploaded to the machine.

cheers ..rob

I am wondering why the PnP manufacturers are not adding more modern part packages to their databases?

Let me know what types of packages you are looking for and if I have them I will send you the data, from our database.

When we bought our refurbished TP9 from Mydata in 2004 it came with a package library that contained all the common packages at that time. I am surprised that your MY12 did not come with at least that. Have you tried calling Mydata tech support directly? They may be able to send you a package library.

Dyounguist, the machine is second hand, but we bought installation, training and two software packages from Mydata (in Germany). We asked three different people (because we could not believe) from Mydata for packages. They all said, that they do not have anything because everybody is creating his library himself!!

Jamboy, you are a star! My guys will contact you by e-mail.

Thank you! Arne

It's curious to us that you say creating packages on the Mydata's is time consuming. We have had Mydata's since the mid 90's and have only found this to be the case with odd form components.

It will take you more time to search through someone else's package library than it takes to build a package on a Mydata.

All of the Mydata machine comes with a standard library package; 0402,0603,0805,1206, soic8 and so on.
