Emerald Advisor for Dianostic - SiPlace 80-S20 Station PC | 17 November, 2015

Hello

I got a SiPlace 80-S20 machine which had a damaged hard drive in MC. I changed HDD and re-installed RMOS + MC from floppies. Then I turned on the machine (without any Line Computer).

The software on Station computer wouldn't go past the "Software Booting" message. I have no idea what is going on in the background.

I tried to install the diagnostic on station PC but it says "Emerald Advisor" must be installed before diagnostic can be installed.

Would any SiPlace user please guide me on the following issues?

1) What is possible reason that software is stuck at "Software Booting" ?

2) Where do I get the Emerald Advisor ? This is not on the installation CD ROM.

The documentation does not say anything on both issues as far as I have looked at it.

I believe this error will occur if the network connection between the station’s “Local Ethernet” (user GUI computer on the top) and the machine controller (SBC module on left side card rack) are not being made. This may be caused by a loose network connection, faulty network wire connection or hub problem. A connection to the LC is not necessary for the unit to get past the software booting message. Actually I from the SC I am able to ping both the MC and the LC. By switching the monitor display the MC shows text the last line of which says"Config completed enabling task". The ICOS display is a red cross hair. All the axis cards show green LEDS. The documentation says that communication must be established between the SC, MC, ICOS and CAN bus controller before the software will move beyond the booting stage. Without "Diagnostics" I don't know what the SC is waiting for.Do you know what the "Emerald Adviser" is by the way? Regards

Sorry, I don not know what Emerald Advisor. I looked on three of our station computers hard drives and was not able to find it.

The last text line on our MC computer reads "system is setup ... enable task loader", minor difference from yours but I thought I would mention it.

I replaced a MC hard drive last year and looking through my notes it shows that a program called "MC Distributor" had to be ran after the MC software is loaded from the floppies. The "MC Distributor" program is accessed through the Win XP start screen. When you run the program check both the "machine controller" and "version converter" check boxes.

If your interested, send me an email direct and I can send you the notes I made last year when I replaced the MC hard drive.

The other option is to contact ASM (888-768-4357) for some tech support. They guided me through the MC hard drive replacement last year.
