Hi Zambri,
I work for Philips EMT (supplier of SMT equipment) as technical consultant and application specialist.
depending on what you want to know there are several ways to calculate machine utilisation.
1) Machine efficiancy.
Available uptime = Total time - Scheduled stops (breaks, maintance, change overs etc.)/ total time
Line uptime = available - unscheduled / available
Overall eff. = available uptime * line uptime.
2) Machine output.
Normaly every machine has a management system which tells you what the output is. In case you do not have it you can calculate as folows.
Net output = (time mesured/mesured run-time pcb) x number of components per pcb.
Gross output = (3600sec./ calculated run-time pcb) x number of components per pcb.
Be aware that the net output is depending on how well the machine is setup and how the operators, logistic, mainenance etc. is organized. A relation of that can be found in the efficiancy. Therefor one alwys has to calculate both. The gross output states what should be possible to reach.

Paul Gerits.
