Quad Off line programming Problems | 14 September, 1999

Hey all, Just got a new PC whiz bang everything but the kitchen sink, and my Quad Gui software can't run on it. I keep getting insufficient memery errors. Any Windows gurus out there who can help? I can't figure out how to allocate the memory to make it run. I have the latest version of the GUI, WIn 98, Pentium 450Mhz, and 64Mb of Ram( I know, lucky me...). Now I can't understand what else I need to make this thing go. And yes, I did run the make compatible routine so it would work with the latest version of Windows.

I need help or else its back to the P100 system I was using(which someone else has already absconded with).....

Thanks, Wendy

It might be your shortest point to sucess, hopefully.

Will keep you posted as I gather the information.

Good luck in the meantime.

Wendy,

I dont care what version of the QUAD GUI software you have. But I do know that there are bugs in almost everything Quad puts out, I'm about 5/5 in quad equipment installs. To be more specific and to prove a point, go back to your p100 sys and put the new software on it and I bet it wont work. For now try this On your new system, treat it like your starting from scratch. and not where you left of on the p100 sys., do contact quad.

Re: New Computer | 14 September, 1999

Wendy - Give me a call at 732-728-0951 and I will see if we can help you out. QSoft-2 will be out before the end of the year and is based on a 32 bit development platform. In the meantime, your new PC may default to the Explorer Style Windows, try setting the Windows environment to the traditional Windows User Interface. If you still have problems, or just to confirm that this has worked, leave me a voice or e-mail. I think that you will be very excited about the new features of QSoft-2 including the netork database functionality. I am assuming, that you mean the OLP when you refer to GUI.

Problem Solved - Thank Bill Gates | 16 September, 1999

For the record, the problem was related to a bad floppy disk resulting a corrupted dll file. Microsoft Windows 98 did a poor job of recovering from a bad dll. The dll was removed, QSoft re-installed, and all is running well.

Times change Earl and I find it very curious that you go so far out of your way to knock one of the few American leaders left in this industry. You will be seeing a lot more of Quad with the release of the new Meridian high speed machines as well as the APS products in the semiconductor side of the business. Universal Instruments has certainly recovered from the Omni days. I have asked Terry Ellis to give you a call. We would very much value your input in person. There is no doubt that you are very talented and have a great deal to offer.

With regard to your concerns over html, you might try Word 2000 if you are not using it already, select "Save as Web Page", then cut and paste from Word into your target document.

You're right however, it apperas that they (Quad) have a new game. Will it make it? Same story different paltform. I have seen the collection and I don't belive it will put them in the game again, if it does, same outcome. However, they say the 3rd time is a charm. Wendy, move on I hear that trade-ins are a common path out, give it a try.
