SMT Component Attrition Part | 24 October, 2022

Hi All SMT Expert and Members,

Any one can help or share how to set the attrition formula at SMT machine pick and place process,

FYI, I had a product with high mix low volume with qty running per model is less than 50 pcs, the pcb and place machine is use Juki and yamaha. during slot in the tape and reel to feeder and take out the balance part from feeder we have some part been drop and loss,

We need to cater all this drop and loss during a pick and place mounting on our attrition formula,

any one can help and share the info is highly appreciate.

The yamaha feeders need leader tape to function - so if you're using cut reel components you'll lose 3 or 4 just on set up alone. Run-time attrition is harder to help with as machine setup and calibration, condition of nozzles/feeders, ability of operators etc can have a major impact on reliable and repeatable placement. We run Yamaha/Philips machines here and our component attrition rate is very low - but all the operators have years of experience each with the 'quirks' of each machine and know how to cure a problem
