I am thinking on getting an SPI and AOI my SMT lines. Sadly we run out of space that is why I have to find some small machine. BF-FRONTIERII is good for us because 2D inspection is clearly enough for our customers. In sales representative docs SPI mode not mentioned. Is it possible to use this machine as SPI? I want two on my lime, first machine as SPI mode and second one as pre-reflow AOI.

If somebody can provide me with the software to let me test and learn how to program this machine would be really nice. As having manual too.

Depending how complex & large the boards are your running you could look at keyance camera systems & just add them to a conveyor

Our plan is havint 500x250 LED PCB.

Just the arrays or arrays, drivers, control boards etc etc

If it's just arrays a keyance camera system would work & can just be mounted to a current conveyor.

Does your pick up machine have an add on option to inspect placements? most printers can even check the paste now. Basic obviously but if we are talking arrays only then you could get away with this option - again depends on how dense the populations & type of LED's etc etc but maybe an option for you if just the very basic would do?

PnP have the basic component vision (size, shape, pins inspection). There are no conveyor after the PnP machines, so we

Printer have built-in SPI but we are using it to make sure paste is not empty in the printer. I am also working on getting some used, cheap 3D SPI - like KohYoung 3030 or 8030.

We have 5.05mm pitch on LEDs, two type of LEDs. On a complete panel there are around 1000-1200 LED and around 100-200 resistors to check. For electronics manufacturing, we have very wide range. Including controller and RF-curcuits. With AOI we want to make sure there aren't missing components and the rotations are fine.

Can't fault the Koh Youngs the 8030 was a faultless piece of kit.

Never used them as AOI's yet - at the last time of purchase they couldn't do what was required so we had to opt for the cyber optics offering as it was the only piece of kit on the market at the time that could do what we needed.

Naturally everything has moved on since but they are still going well.

You misunderstand me. I won't use the AOI as SPI. If the machine can handle solder paste data I will turn off this algorithms. So AOI have to be only AOI without any SPI data check.
