| Folk's, | | I'm looking for some helpful suggestions for reworking wave soldered bottomside components that have been glued. | I'm not a fan of the twist and break approach and as some of them either have a double dot or a slot configuration this tend's to lead to removing a chunk of resist as well. | I've thought of using a hot air pencil but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions. | | JohnW My glue provider has provided me with rework instructions that involves heating the cured adhesive to above 100 degrees C then gently twist off the component. After removing the component the hot air should be focused on the remaining adhesive in order to remove it with one sharp tool.
I find using the rework station preheater is effective. I don't experience any of the damage you've sited.
Does your glue vendor have similar rework instructions?
