| Hey guys, | We are opening our new shop in a hotel and would like to hear your inputs. We will be providing contract manufacturing as well as equipment sales from this location. It will be mostly for the surface mount side of our business because our objective is to sell equipment from this site and would like to present it in a real assembly environment. The hotel is a very nice Victorian inn and has a bar and fine dinning. It will be a very interesting marriage. I am not sure if this sort of thing has been achieved before but I am hoping it would be good for our customers. | | (1) Have you heard of this being done before? | | (2) Does it seem like a good move? | | (3) Would you do it if you could? | | We have the aproval for this project and will start next month so the legal issues if any are all ok. | Thanks for the feed back, | Jeff Sanchez | 1. What is your strategic business advantage for using an "inn"?
2. What services are you offering that puts you at a distinct advantage over your competitor? (besides happy hour within walking distance)
3. Why will this dichotic aproach work better than a coffee shop or auto parts? How will this create a business opportunity?
4. How can you convince your customer(s) that your true specialty is manufacturing rather than hospitality?
5 Are the hotel operating costs passed on to your customers through higher pricing? Why would I want you as an EMS supplier if your operating costs are higher due to non value added services?
If it works, kudos to 'ya! I've always thought it would be cool to have an 18 wheeler with a full service SMT line in the trailer. You could travel around the country providing EMS services. Just think . Receive the material (KIT) in California, load it in the truck. Drive to Florida and build the product on the way! Gives new meaning to JIT!!!
Just a thought. Dean
