Describe term A wave

SMTneters, I'm famialiar with lambda, omega, and gemini waves but not with "A" wave. Can somebody give me an explanation?

The term "A" wave refers to an asymetrical wave. It's an Electrovert term that describes the laminar wave in their contour inerting systems. The contour systems are ones that are open to the atmosphere and have nitrogen diffusers along the sides of the wave where they re-enter the solder pot.

They call it asymetrical because the amount of solder that flows over the front of the nozzles is about 70% of the flow, with the remining 30% going over the back of the nozzle. This is a little different from laminar waves of days past, where only a trickle flowed over the back.

I think the higher backflow is to get gravity's assistance in peeling off and debridging boards.
