Trying to convince management to buy TPSys 2.4 software upgrade for MY-12 and My15 machine. Currently running 2.2 ver.

Any mydata user's out there explain how my company would benefit jumping from ver 2.2 to ver 2.4. I think the cost is $1200 per machine so I'm required to justify the $2400 US.

Thank you SMT-NET users for any help.

Why do you want to switch?, are you having problems with 2.2 that you know 2.4 will fix?

No problems with ver 2.2 that I'm aware of. I'm in process eng. and part of my job is review the machine's capabilities. From what i read, Ver 2.3 & 2.4 software was designed to speed up setups and changeovers.I understand the auto teach functions is greatly enhanced from Ver 2.2.

Just wondering if the $2400 for ver 2.4 is worth the upgrade.

So then to justify the 2400, you will need to calculate the decreased time for setup/changeover and what that costs your company. this will be justification.

e.g. if it takes half as long to setup you save half the money. labor hours x employee cost.

One caveat, if you don't need a quicker setup than you would not be able to justify.

Mydata sales for TPSys 2.4 says and i quote" Reduce your setup and changeover times with new features like the ability to use auto teach for vision illumination, barcode loading of trays, factory wide sharing of vision package data.TPSys 2.4 contains more than 30 new functions, all designed to boost your bottom line". Just like buying a new car-do i really need whatever these 30 plus new functions (options)give my company and can i justify these options.

All aspects of what the new software gives me as benefit will be included when i do my justification. I'm looking for someone that is actually using Ver 2.4 and has used ver 2.2,- 2.3.

Russ have you used this mydata software?

Thanks

I sure haven't JEM. Was just trying to help determine how to justify. Funny things about those claims like barcode scan, yes they help but now you need a pronter to print barcodes, an operator to put them on, etc... So is it a help? just an example.

I'll bow out and let the Mydata users respond

Thanks very much for your input Russ.Nice to jar the memory and ensure all bases are covered.Don't have the Bar code interface so bar code is a future-future demand.

JEM,

If you do not get any responses here you should have Mydata furnish you with references. Contact these references to see if they actually know what they are talking about and use that information if applicable to decide.

Hi JEM, We just made the very same upgrade you are looking to make on three machines. We purchased a new MY12 and upgraded our other three (My9 W/hydra, My9 No Hydra, and TP9-2U) from 2.2.4C to 2.4.4c. There are several changes and most of them are good. As far as the set-up goes, the only way the software saves you time is if you are teaching a lot of new packages. The autoteach is saves time on BGA packages and it is great for 0201 with the hydra linescan combo. By the way, If your machines do not have Linescan camera you can not use standard hydra camera for Autoteach. It does make it alot easier to teach otherwise difficult packages.

It allows you to manually pick and choose which boards you would like to build on a panel.

It allows you to control the speed of the Agilis feeders.

The coolest feature is with the new linear Agilis feeders where you are able to trim the individual feeders in both x and y directions. This is something you can sell to your company. You will see tremendous reduction in fallout especially on the 0201's.

The other big improvement for speed is you can now pick from the flex and vibe magazines with the Hydra.

There may be other stuff that I am not thinking of right now so If you have any specific questions feel free to Email me.

I hope this helped,

Mike

Just remembered, If you do upgrade, make sure your software comes with latest servo version (8.13). Ours did not and we had all kinds of trouble the first three weeks until we got it corrected.

Well the first thing you should know is once Mydata comes out with a new version, the older one is done. We have upgraded to the 2.4.4 and it it was well worth it. We increased our speed because the Agilis LM magazines are faster. Mydata always adds little things too.
