I have a wave machine (offshore made) with internal spray fluxer configured with a conventional spray gun set up. In order to spray fluid (in this case, flux) I must set the air pressure at 0.3 mPA (43 PSI). At that pressure, my flux sprayer creates a flux cloud that rolls out of the conveyor entrance. My exhaust is about to be replaced with a stronger unit, but is this normal? I am using VOC-Free water based OA flux. My belief is that the spray gun set up is not an ideal fit for this process. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think we run our Vectra between 9 to 14 PSI. If memory serves me, I dont think you can set it above 14 PSI. We use VOC free no-clean. Your number seems WAY high. Check the nozzle. You also may need a different nozzle size. We always run a good filter in the line for the flux to prevent clogging the nozzles. A fuel filter will work. We use a 10 micron from McMaster Carr.

PS, we had a similar situation when a quick disconnect on the flux supply went bad, limiting flow. Take the nozzle off and turn the fluxer on, you should get a lot of flux flow, If not, the lines are probably clogged.

Definitely too much pressure for any fluxer I've seen. Something must be restricting the flow. Maybe the nozzle.
