What chemical is everybody using in their wave solder finger cleaner? I have tried IPA as well as some other chemicals. Any suggestions?

IPA is a fire hazard. Be sure your fire extinguishers are charged and your evacuation plan is current, when using IPA in the vacinity of a wave solder machine.

Have you tried DI water?

Solutions used in wave finger cleaners include: * Techspray SMT Oven Cleaner * Multicore Prozone * Alpha SM-110 Solvent Cleaner

Degeaser isn't a good chemical to use either cause it leaves a residue so don't use it. alcohol works good. Not sure why everyone thinks it blows up. heck i remeber back in the day when I hade 24 inch foam fluxers bubbling flux and alcohol (IPA not the good stuff) all over the boards. Most times if it caught fire it would burn out with in a few seconds but thats why we made everything out of steel. No big deal but thats when we could smoke on the ine too. Now days every one is so corporate and things are made out of p[lastic that nothing will catch fire. Oh well thats a topic for a diffrent thread.

Got back from Illinoise. Went down to look at that job everyone was poking fun about. Not a bad drive but that town was too big for me. Guess i'm not the city type.

You may want to try C8502 from Kyzen Corp. I use it on our three wave solder machines with great results diluted in DI water 50%. I am an end-user like you not a sales person! You can order free samples...

We use Axarel 2200 as recomended by Vitronics Soltec, which is the same as we use on our MPM printes for under stencil cleaning. It is non-ozone depleating and has a high flash point. For insurance purposes we banned IPA from the shop floor some time ago.

Jon, Does Axarel 2200 leave minimal residue or clumps on the wiper paper area? Also, what is your wipe frequency on a typical board?

Try Zestron Vigon RC 101. This mixes with tap water. Electrovert does not recommend DI water due to its corrosive nature.
