Siemens S20 Hang Issue

Hi All,

I am running 19 Siemens S20 Machine here. I found out that the Siemens Machine once a while hangs. The remedy is reboot the machine. I wonder what is the machine hang rate for other S20 machine else where.

Can anyone give me any suggestion for me to troubleshoot this hang problem or whar are the things I need to do to trace and resolve this issue.

It will more helpfull if you can give more technical details such as : What is the error massage on the monitor? Does the comlete line stops, one machine in a line or the psroblem is in the UNIX LC

For example one person working on the line computer, another on the machine computer and another on the VMPS system. That was usually a recipe for disaster. In theory it should work but reality as usual is different. The NT software is supposed to remedy this. We shall see.

NT isn't the cure... We have three machines supposedly the latest and greatest that still lockup even when untouched at any keyboard.

Siemens makes a good product but boy their software leaves a LOT to be desired as far as reliability and usability.

The machine hang senario is that there are 4 machines controlled by 1 unix Line computer. Usually the whole line does not hang but only one particular machine. This hang scenario happens on production mode (auto mode) not like the manual mode (example component test mode). I have just did a scan hard disk and did not find any bad sector. However tehere were alot of cluster problems and being fix by the microsoft scan disk. I hope to run the machine whole next week to see if the frequency of hang reduce. Thanks for all of the suggestion. Is there any other suggestions??

Does machine stop in middle of placement? Message Processing PCB is displayed? No Action other that Reboot remedy the problem?

1. Which version of Station Software are you using? Versions lower that 10 can cause this?

What appears to happen on some machines is that Gantry 1 or Gantry 2 reports that it is too close, even though they are seperated by a good distance. You might be able to view error under machine errors. You may be also to use report command under Software, Test commands, Not advisable if unfamialiar.

You also might want to check PCB size, I have known that PCB's close to the maximum will cause this.

Another good solution may be to recompile both the Feeder file ?????.ar and PCB file ?????.la. You might also want to open PCB file in editor and save so newer date is written.

*** Make sure you back up the file before doing anything***

You may also check to see that they are no GF packages that are above the maximum number in LC Software.

We ahve to reboot the machine and sometimes the LC for this. |
