Hello All, This would be a question for someone with experience in PCB design, Intrusive reflow Narrow profile connector(Electrode Rectangular) L=1mm X W=0.9mm. What shape and size hole is required in the PCB to ensure sufficient solderability and remain upright during reflow, Is there an IPC standard calculation, Thanks for the assistance.

When designing a PCB to accommodate an intrusive reflow narrow profile connector (electrode rectangular) with specific dimensions, you'll need to consider the pad size, hole size, and other factors to ensure proper solderability and mechanical stability during the reflow soldering process. I won't answer your design question, as I don't do PCB design. I will say that if your product is to ROHS, make sure that the connector you choose can handle the REFLOW temperatures required. As a CM, we have had some products that were intended for pin in paste, but the component, even though it was "lead-free", couldn't handle ROHS reflow temps.

You might find what your looking for in the component datasheet or at least a recommended footprint. As your looking for advise I would speak with whomever you have your stencils designed by at the min, they likely already have a database of options you can use.

ProcEng1 made a super important point. The packaging needs to be able to survive the temps needed to reflow the paste. There are a number of jobs we have that we either hand or selective solder the connectors after the surface mount is done for that very reason.

If it is a ROHS component then there are certain thermal stability ingredients that are not in it. Some of the restrictions cover chemicals that were added to increase temperature tolerance. So not only did the products have to withstand higher temperatures, they could not use all the chemicals that made that possible.
