FUJI CP642 narrow camera flicker | 6 December, 2023

Hello and help !

After changing oil hose, cleaning machine and all nozzles, CP642 narrow camera started to flicker. And in nozzle centering measuring, no image at all.

We checked syncro pin, seems ok. Also checked camera picture with Sony monitor, seems ok. Camera board in Fuji computer was replaced from spare, no change, same flicker

Checked camera caps, supply voltage, dip switches. Seems ok.

Any ideas ? I know, its Murphys law in action, because we managed to fix all small problems (nozzles etc) before the error started.

Changed camera, flicker is gone.

But cannot calibrate nozzle centers with the narrow camera, error all time

I checked buffer image, brightness and contrast is SAME as with wide camera.

Center of camera is roughly aligned using nozzle, its better than before.

What can be the cause ? Has anyone the vision calibration manual available ? Some jigs needed ?

Not sure on CP6's but CP2 through CP4 series used jigs. We now have an AIMEXIII and it uses jigs. I would bet that there are jigs for the CP6 series machines.

Found the main problem

During messing around (hopelessly :) we had found the calibration menu and pressed "check". Machine thought that there was a calibration nozzle (maybe 10x10mm square) but in reality, there was d=1.0mm nozzle.

Machine decided that this is the new reality and set camera resolution to something like 0.5mm per pixel !

So, when checking nozzles, poor vision processor zoomed in 20 times more than needed (i saw the squares on screen)

Of course, this did nothing good. I uploaded the old calibration data from computer.

Everything works ! :)

Of course, I still need calibration nozzles. If anyone has at least the DIMENSIONS of wide/narrow cal nozzle, PLEASE share. I can manufacture the nozzles, no problem, but I need dimensions :) (I dont even know, are these inch/metric, so guessing will be hard)

Calibrating the cameras on these machines is not something you can do "correctly" without the jigs from Fuji and following an exact method. It's been years since I watched a Fuji FSE do this, but I can assure you that unless it is done EXACTLY correct the machine will not work like it's supposed to. The manuals are translated from Japanese and there is almost always missing critical steps. Back in the day, Fuji wouldn't even give you these manuals unless you took the training. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this is NOT something you can wing and expect to work.
