Solder paste store

Solder paste storage | 27 February, 2024

We know that solder pastes can be stored for up to 2 weeks at room temperature. If we return them to the refrigerator after 1 week of storage at room temperature, does the time reset, or can we keep them for the remaining week at room temperature?

Another consideration: What should we do if there isn't enough time to wait for the warm-up after refrigeration?

There are plenty of paste chemistries now that can be stored at room temp for far longer than 2 weeks. You should not return a paste to the fridge once it has been opened. If a tub of paste came out of the fridge mistakenly I see no reason to why it can't go back. I doubt you should reset the time however, that is probably related to chemistry. Solder manufacturers will only have tested the common use cases, yoyoing in and out of the fridge is not one of them.

Once you warm it up to room temperature, use it or lose it. Paste should always be brought to a room temperature before use. If it is not ready, don't use it.
