| Any Comment's about mydata placment reliability (repeatablity) on all types of components. | we have trouble quantifying just how good it is. | Is it as good as Mydata Claim ?? | Please help We have 4 Mydatas running at this time. Non vision parts must be mechanically centered which, over time does not lend itself to placement repeatability. 0603s pose some issues, specifically, the indexing mechanism of Mydata's magazines must be adjusted frequently to keep the tape pocket centered. If you plan to place a lot of passives with a Mydata machine, don't. Look at a machine with some form of "non-contact" centering for passives such as laser (Zevatech) or CCD camera (Panasonic). As for fine pitch parts, we have no complaints. Centering repeatability has been good. (We track placement accuracy daily) BGAs do pose a fairly serious problem however. The current software does not allow teaching of a "non-full array" BGA. That is an array that has center or corner balls missing. We are currently building products with 3 different BGA packages and all are "non-full array". I could be off base here but it appears that many BGA configurations are NOT full array. Mydata says they will incorporate this capability into the next software release due out towards the end of the summer, but they have typically been late with feature enhancements. Prototyping and low volume environments are what these machines were built for and they serve the purpose in that regard. Think hard about what your operation will be doing in 6-24 months before selecting Mydata.
