| I am involved in the purchasing decision (Technical side) of which placement machine to buy. One of the criteria we need to specify is how many feeders, and what sizes. I have a provitional parts list of a job that we are most likly going to build. The differnt types of SMD's are as follows, 0603,0805,1206,PLCC 32(device),PLCC 28,32&44(carrier),SO8, SO14(wide body), SO16, SOP32, SOT23, SOT223, TSOP20. | What I need to find out is "What type/size of feeder is requied for different types package. | Any pointers will be appreciated | Regards | Terry Topline will define package sizes to feeder requirements. I've done this spec. twice and: You'll run out of 8mm feeders on some jobs. You'll always have a few 12, 16, etc. mm feeders on the shelf. You'll run out of Vibrator feeders. Trays are always an issue, regardless... Murphy rules in this. My advise is worry about the 8mm, get enough to load the machine 80%+. Get enough of the 12,16 etc. to feel comfortable (4 or so of each). Pay CLOSE attention to the loading forks for the vibrators, at any given time you'll need more than what you picked and the mix is not predictable... you'll cut more than one top off a tube to "create" a fork. I hope this helps. Whatever you do, just know you did your best and don't look back. Cheers, Scott
