we are using aegis circuitca for manufacturing preparation. It works fine. we are a prototype center with small series of different cutomers.Our problem: keeping control over all components... Some are standard in house (used by other depertments as well), some are customers parts, (in a seperate box) some are ordered at a supplier in a kit for the project. MGF /MRP is too complex/big for our small, completely separated department, but ms-access might be too simple. What software to use? any ideas?

Managing items and BOMs, even for a small company, should not be done on spreadsheets - they're single user, prone to error, and hard to manage. There are relatively low-cost, very functional systems on the market that enable management and revision control as well as direct interaction between suppliers, EMS providers, and Electronics OEMs or design houses.
