UP2500 misregistration in one direction

I am experiencing a problem with print misregistration only in one direction on our UP2500. When it prints from front to back I get perfect regsitration on micro BGAs, but on the second stroke moving back to front I get a misregistration in the stroke direction.

Now if I use a double stroke process STARTING in the front, then I do not get the misregistration on the second stroke which is the back to front stroke.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? It is very repeatable on different models.

note..we are using the UP2500 as a single track printer for our line. the front track has been moved slightly to allow for this by the vendor who configured the machine.
