Hello all,

Can you tell me what standart is used for communication between machines in production line. I don't mean SMEMA. There is a standart for machine communication, they can communicate one with another. That is the way for example AOI says there is a problem with printing process or with pick and place process and the line can adjust automaticly(communication between the machine). I don't know if I described it well, but I know there is a standart for that. If you can tell me what it is or where I can find information about it, I would be very greatful.

Try the IPC-254x CAMX standards (webstds.ipc.org, no www prefix!). They define a set of generic and process-specific XML messages for equipment to send out all sorts of process-related events. I know there are standardized messages for print, dispense, Pick&Place and reflow, not sure about AOI though... More and more equipment vendors have CAMX capabilities in their newer machineries, some of them also for older stuff.

You do need a Front-End software system to pick up the CAMX-messages and turn it into usable hints. Most major software vendors sell these systems at various prices (try Aegis, Tecnomatix, Valor/TraceXpert).

Hi Evtimov,

Try to stay away from GEM or SECS/GEM. It's waaaayyyy to complicated and every vendor has there own interpretation of it when it comes to events and reports that are not commonplace in the semiconductor industry, which is where the GEM-standard comes from. In case all your machines are coming from the same vendor there might be a vendor-specific solution, but you said you want to exchange data between AOI, printer, P&P, etc... In that case you might be better of with CAMX.
