SMTA Presents:Chapter Webinar Series: Solving Real-Life Problems Using the Tools of Lean Six Sigma (Part 1 of 3)This informative webinar series is co-organized by the Arizona/Sonora, Upper Midwest, Silicon Valley (San Jose) Chapters, and the SMTA SYP (Student and Young Professionals) Committee. When:Wednesday, May 31, 2023 Where:Online Contact:Rob Boguski
Professor Ron Lasky, PhD, PE, Dartmouth College and Senior Technologist, Indium Corporation Overview: Three separate workshops will be presented to provide a basic overview of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) techniques for electronic assembly. The workshops will use a teaching example, presenting a simulated LSS evaluation of a common electronic assembly quality problem. The format will follow the fundamental LSS procedure of DMAIC, acronym for Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control. In the first session, we covered a short overview of LSS, defining the problem, and analyzing it through the first 3 steps of the DMAIC process. In this second workshop we will cover “I” of DMAIC, the Improve phase. The Improve phase involves setting up a DOE (Design of Experiment), performing the experiments and analyzing the data to determine what factors in the experiment will provide the most improvement in the process. A simulated DOE data set will be analyzed using commercial statistical software to demonstrate this Improve phase of DMAIC. Cost to attend the series: Members: Free! Non-members: $30 Series: Part 1 - May 31, 2023 (Define, Measure, Analyze phases - Stencil Printing example) Part 2 - June 7, 2023 (Improve phase - Design of Experiments example) Part 3 - June 21, 2023 (Control phase) |
