POSITION SUMMARY
Based in Juarez Mexico, the successful candidate will be located near the Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) partner facilities and will be responsible for the transfer of processes and products from internal manufacturing into our EMS partners' facilities. Much of the work of the Regional Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Engineering Specialist will be in the form of a liaison role between the internal and external manufacturing environments. Key responsibilities will be to ensure documentation and processes are transferred in a timely manner, and provide associated process and system training to the EMS partners where required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
Assist in the design of, and certainly the approval of the EMS line layout and equipment selection, while providing input with respect to capital expenditure justification
Communicate Engineering Change Notice (ECN), TDN's, MCN's
Work with our EMS partner to establish mutually agreed manufacturing plans and manufacturing capacity models
Monitor operational metrics, set targets and assist in continuous improvement activities at our partners' site with the intent to always strive for optimum process efficiencies together with reduced cycle times and product costs
Act as a focal point to provide feedback into RIM from the EMS partners on any product design and/or for manufacturing process issues that are beyond the control of the EMS partners
Maintain awareness of process and product evolution at RIM and communicate knowledge to EMS partners
Coordinate RIM technical activities at the EMS partner site and participate in periodic business reviews
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
University Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related field
Candidates must be able to demonstrate at least 4 years post degree SMT process engineering experience in a high volume electronics-manufacturing environment
Experience working with Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers and background working in Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) will be a definite asset
Result oriented, with hands on experience in implementing continuous improvement and process enhancement initiatives and the ability to lead work teams within external partners to achieve quality cost and delivery goals
Demonstrated leadership and communications skills with a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with other business groups and external customers
Proven ability to manage projects thorough effective project management experience with demonstrated ability to use resources to complete projects on time and within budget
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide possible solutions
Must possess skills on systematical problem analysis and solutions with application of SPC/6 sigma and other statistic/quality control tools
Reliable, self-driven and independent with the ability to travel internationally is vital to this role
