Field Applications Engineer

Premier EDA Solutions Ltd. is recognised as one of the leading providers of electronic design automation software and associated services in the UK & Ireland. We have a team of 10 people operating from a prestigious office based in rural Stanstead Abbotts, UK. Our operation spans the UK & Ireland with customers in virtually every aspect of modern electronics from Forumla One Grand Prix racing teams, to the military environment, to consumer electronics, research institutes and semiconductor companies. We are looking for a technically solid applications engineer with commercial experience to pioneer a new pre-sales role within the company focusing on the system-on-FPGA capabilities of Altium Designer. Working with contacts generated by the sales team, the FAE will perform on-site customer visits and technical demonstrations. During these visits, the FAE will form a detailed understanding of the challenges faced by the customer and work with the sales team to make appropriate recommendations. Relationship building with our customers is a critical aspect of this role and will require effective planning, communications and implementation of Premier's business objectives. The role will also require the production of white papers, design examples, applications notes and training materials. These items will be presented through a variety of media including face-to-face seminars, web-based seminars, press interviews and such like. The FAE will also provide an invaluable resource to the marketing team, providing technical input to a variety of campaigns and customer communications. In addition, the FAE will have responsibility for providing internal training for sales and support staff and extensive liaison with our friends at Altium. Good written and excellent verbal command of English are essential skills. The ideal candidate will have proven experience and/or expertise in at least two of the following areas:-

• Excellent working knowledge of electronic design automation tools
• FPGA hardware development tools and techniques
• Knowledge of FPGA devices, vendors and technologies
• Embedded software development tools and techniques
• Digital Signal Processing development and modelling techniques
• VHDL/Verilog design and simulation tools and techniques

In addition to the above technical skills, the successful candidate will have previously worked in a high tech sales environment (perhaps in a pre- or post-sales support role) and be experienced in working towards commercial objectives. Extensive IT skills (based on MS Office) and knowledge of email and Internet will be essential.
