Job Description:

Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating variety of machines to manufacture parts or products. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Performs the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Interfaces with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met. 2. Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. 3. Creates detailed schedule time lines to ensure customer shipment dates and equipment specifications are met. 4. Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders. 5. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. 6. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. 7. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. 8. Coordinates manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions. 9. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. 10. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. 11. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. 12. Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel. 13. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. 14. Maintains an appropriate employee � management relationship with subordinates. 15. Responds to grievances appropriately and works with subordinates, and Human Resources to discuss and eliminate problems. 16. Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create machining schedules that meet both internal and external needs. 17. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties. 18. Plans flow of materials through department and develops physical layout of machines according to work orders. 19. Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards. 20. Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 75-100 employees in the Production area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A minimum of three years experience in the electrical assembly, wire cable assembly, or electronics manufacturing is required. 2. Prior experience scheduling work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is required. 3. A minimum of three years of supervisory experience is required. Strong performance management skills are required. 4. Experience using wire processing equipment (e.g., Komax, AMP, and Schleuniger) is required. 5. The ability to work in a fast-paced, continuously changing environment is required. 6. Excellent organization and prioritization skills are required. 7. The ability to read blueprints and specs is required. 8. The ability to exercise good judgment and make good decisions is required. 9. The ability to speak Spanish fluently is required. 10. Experience using scheduling software and /or Excel is highly desirable (e.g., Made2Manage) 11. Prior experience with 5 S Principles, lean manufacturing, and / or Six Sigma is desirable.
