Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Our South Houston client is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer on a direct hire basis. Job Summary: Perform the complete mechanical design required for both proprietary and non-proprietary projects. Assist with technical mechanical support to the fabrication shop and other Project Managers. Job Duties: Perform design calculations for vessels, piping, structural, etc. Complete instrument and equipment mechanical specifications. Assist with day to day fabrication problems Review of fabrication drawings and vendor quotes to assure compliance with specifications and good engineering practices Search out and recommend improved materials, equipment and vendors. Develop written procedures to properly specify, purchase, inspect or install equipment. Assure that designed equipment meet the applicable codes, i.e. ASEM, API, ANSI. Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. 5 + years of experience in Mechanical Design. Experience designing pressure vessels (ASME, SEC VII, Div 1) Working knowledge of Compress or PV Elite software. Ability to read P&IDs, mechanical drawings and isometrics. Skid/Modular system design a plus! (according to ASME B31.3) Experience with structural calculations, pipe stress analysis and FEA preferred. Plant experience desirable, but not required.
