Cost Estimator

DataCon, Inc. is seeking an experienced Cost Estimator with the ability to take charge in developing successful bid packages in response to our customer RFQs. We are located in Burlington, MA, renowned for providing external manufacturing services for both emerging and established OEMs. With our talented and highly experienced workforce, we follow a full service product development model with the capability to expertly design, develop, document and manufacture complex electronics and electromechanical hardware for our customers.

As a Cost Estimator, you would be responsible for evaluating complex customer proposals, preparing cost and work completion estimates for current and potential projects, and developing project plans including itemized materials requirements, labor costs, feasibility, timing and pricing.

This position mandates excellent computer applications skills, with exceptional expertise in EXCEL. You also must be proficient in reading electrical blueprints and other specifications material, with the analytical skills to interpret and question customer requirements. You must have a technical understanding of backplane, CCA's, cables/harnesses and boxbuild assembly. A relevant degree, e.g. BS degree, or five-plus years of contract manufacturing experience.

Specific functional tasks include, but are not limited to:

• Reviewing requests for quotation ensuring information is complete, e.g., statement of work, quantities, and special instructions. Requesting missing information.
• Preparing bid packages in response to all requirements.
• Evaluating the estimated cost vs. actual costs of past production orders and correcting routing times and BOM's to reflect data accurately.
• Developing BOM's for purchasing but primarily development of labor, NRE, and tooling requirements
• Formulating pricing based on developed material, labor, and NRE costs utilizing appropriate rate code
• Working closely with internal organizations such as Purchasing, Engineering, test, manufacturing, etc.
• Submitting and follow-up to proposals with customers/obtain relevant information
• Preparing letters to the customer requesting additional information or documentation clarification
• Participating in TQM initiatives in conducting daily tasks.
• Following company and OSHA safety guidelines
