US-Georgia-Sustaining Engineer Job Description: My client, a Global 100 provider of high-speed automated circuit board assembly systems seeks a Automation Systems Engineer to identify and address systemic problems and contribute to continious improvement. RESPONSIBILITIES: To act as an extension arm of the Development organization for the purpose of investigating and producing solutions for "systemic" product issues. To monitor and report on Sustaining Engineering key measurables with an ongoing goal of reducing product cost of quality through proactive product development. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To utilize a scientific approach (such as 8D method) to investigate and identify the root causes of systemic product issues. 2. Travel to source of issue to gain clear understanding of issue(s) and implement action plans for elimination from within Development and/or Regional Center. 3. To assist Development in engineering solutions to address systemic product issues as required by Management. 4. To utilize Development methodology for reporting and updating of all issue activity in conformance with existing processes. 5. Communicate with Manager, Sustaining Engineering and Development on a regular basis to review status and priority of all open projects and actions being taken. 6. Conduct the above duties within company policy and the specific guidelines established in applicable quality procedures. Requirements: Technical: Technical degree or equivalent experience. Four to six years experience servicing or supporting of CNC, Robotic or electronic manufacturing equipment preferred. Managerial: Coordinate with Manager, Technical Support project requirement priorities and budget for necessary resources as required. Human Relations: Good interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written. Excellent listening skills. Must be able to work with various levels of customer expertise. Must be able to work in a team environment. Problem-Solving: Individual must be able to logically diagnose problems with equipment and process including electrical, mechanical and microprocessor systems. Must have the ability to conceptualize and communicate solutions to product deficiencies. Individual is required to perform many tasks on-site, in an autonomous manner, will be responsible for making decisions affecting customer support. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED � Four year technical degree or equivalent. � Minimum 6+ years technical support, service, or process engineering experience. � Excellent interpersonal communication skills. � Excellent technical writing capabilities. � Positive attitude with regards to customer satisfaction and teamwork. � Understanding of 8D problem resolution methods and statistical analysis fundamentals. COMMENTS Assumes technical ownership of systemic product issues as reported by the Field Problem Reports, Call Center data, Logistics data, or management. Seeks out projects which are systemic in nature by monitoring various product input sources. Develops methods for improving predictive problem engineering. Completes all paperwork in an orderly and efficient manner including product problem reports at the engineering level.
