Job Description:

Winslow Automation, Inc. (aka Six Sigma), an industry leader in electronic component interconnect technology & related test and failure analysis services, is seeking a ‘hands on’ Materials Engineer to join our Test services team.

This individual will be responsible for supervising and working with engineers and technicians to solve production process issues. This position requires handling of product or information which is subject to ITAR regulations. Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.


Duties and Responsibilities:
 

• Training the lab technicians on test and analytical services
 

• Ensure tests are performed properly
 

• Verify test failures (e.g. solderability, leak test, pinstock wire
 

• Write and maintain work instruction for routine test services
 

• Perform non-routine test services and simple analytical services
 

• Design fixtures for the test services area
 

• Develop new test services and improve existing test services
 

• Managing the equipment installation and maintenance
 

• Perform internal equipment calibration/verification
 

• Organizing the test services area
 

• Provide technical customer communication and support

Requirements:
 

• B.S. in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronic Packaging, Chemistry or Physics
 

• Two years related back end assembly or PCB assembly preferred but not required
 

• Hands-on lab or test experience
 

• Experience in operating a variety of lab equipment such as Metrology, XRF, Ball Shear, Pull Test, Ionic Cleanliness, Solderability, Leak Test, FTIR, Acoustic Imaging a plus
 

• Strong supervisor qualities. 
 

• Back end semiconductor packaging and assembly or PCB manufacturing or assembly experience.
 

• Good understanding of chemistry and metallurgy as it applies to soldering.
 

• Knowledge of soldering and packaging defects.
 

• Strong knowledge of intermetallics.
 

• Knowledge of IPC 610 and IPC 7711 standards.
 

• Familiar with Statistical Process Control (SPC). 
 

• Excellent troubleshooting experience and good mechanical aptitude is preferred.
 

• Strong experience and knowledge of manufacturing Yields, DOE and FMEA.
 

• Experience conducting process monitors and controls.
 

• Familiar with fishbone methodology, 8D, CARS and NCR.
