Alpha, a business unit of Alent plc and the global leader in the development, manufacturing and sales of innovative specialty materials used in a wide range of industry segments, including electronics assembly, power electronics, die attach, LED lighting, photovoltaics, semiconductor packaging, automotive and others is seeking a Process Control Engineer for their global headquarters located in South Plainfield, NJ.   

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The general purpose of this position is to manage the computerization of the Alpha processes to eliminate labor, reduce cost and insure quality. The position is also responsible to design and develop process controls, automation and data acquisition systems for Alpha global manufacturing sites, as well as to manage databases for the products, processes and QC information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop and create budgets for Automation projects at Alpha worldwide locations
  • Fabricate, install and commission software and hard ware for process automation on a global basis.
  • Design, fabricate, install and commission software and hardware for process data acquisition on a global basis.
  • Design and manage a data base to mine QC data for all global products to a central GPEG location.  This includes monitoring all data acquisition on a global basis to ensure interplay of each system.  Troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Analyze existing processes, procedures and equipment for process automation and improvement and make recommendations for improvement
  • Participate in process improvement and design teams
  • Stay current in process control technology to resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies and concepts
  • Support global sites with software and hardware issues

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a four year degree in an engineering discipline (preferably electrical, mechanical or chemical).
  • Must have three to five years of related experience in, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   
  • Experience in process controls such as computer, PLC, and sensors required. 
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 50% of time both domestically and internationally.
