SMT Process Engineer

A world-class, high-velocity, fiber optic, broadband manufacturer located in the Baltimore area has a fantastic opportunity for a Process Engineer in their Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) department. This individual will report to the SMT Program Manager and will be responsible for transitioning electronic assemblies from engineering into production, for monitoring electronic assembly processes and assisting with all production issues to ensure product quality. Essential duties and responsibilities include: � Confer with configuration management and engineering staff concerning changes that will improve efficiency. � Provide input in determining product specifications. � Evaluate materials and assemblies according to specifications and quality standards. � Support the manufacturing of prototype and pilot assemblies. � Perform evaluations, and provide input for equipment and material selections. � Work with management, engineering and planning staff to facilitate the development of production schedules. � Utilize available tools to establish machine parameters and write machine programs for a variety of assemblies. � Resolve technical issues. Required skills and experience: � B.S. degree in electronics or demonstrable equivalent experience � 3-5 years relevant experience � Experience in reviewing relevant design files for both bare boards and electronic assemblies using appropriate CAD software � Familiarity with workmanship standards for electronic assemblies � Experience in supporting automated electronic assembly processes (surface mount, through hole, troubleshooting to various degrees) � Technology transfer experience � Ability to communicate effectively on all levels of a team environment Company offers an excellent salary, plus bonus, comprehensive benefits and relocation package.
