SMT Process Engineer

Provide new program engineering support with emphasis on technical SMT process development. Key activities would include recommendations and implementation of components, SMT pad design, solder methods, testing and reliability for both rigid and foil substrates, equipment utilization and related matters. Will work with product/quality engineers, and plant personnel to create and develop all process documentation including PFMEA, process flowcharts and operator documentation for all new products that have surface mount components. Develop and implement SMT production/processing methods and controls to meet cost, quality/production goals and establish design for manufacturing guidelines. Monitors current operations to assure compliance, and reviews proposals of outside suppliers regarding the purchase of new or modernization of existing production/processing equipment. Required Education, Skills, Training or Other Qualifications: Bachelor�s degree in manufacturing, engineering or related field required. Masters degree in manufacturing related area or additional course work or advanced degree in business administration is preferred. Must have 6-10 years experience as a SMT process engineer in a high volume electronic manufacturing operation with 10 years expertise in related technologies and test methods preferred. Knowledge to troubleshoot SMT processes and makes recommendations for improvement in key areas including stencil printing, component placement and reflow soldering required. Training/knowledge of various quality tools (i.e., DOE, FMEA) and ISO/QS-9000 requirements and procedures; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation P.C. computer, project management and presentation skills is also required. Must be willing to work occasional overtime and weekends, and travel as required to remote plants, facilities, customers or suppliers.
