All PCBs that are manufactured require a surface finish to protect exposed copper on the surface which if left unprotected, can oxidize, rendering the board unusable. To address this issue, it is common to surface treat the PCB prior to assembly and reflow. The surface finish not only prevents oxidation of the underlying copper, but ...
The solderability of the SAC305 alloy in contact with printed circuit boards (PCB) having different surface finishes was examined using the wetting balance method. The study was performed at a temperature of 260°C on three types of PCBs covered with ...
The surface finishes commonly used on printed circuit boards (PCBs) have an effect on solder paste performance in the surface mount process. Some surface finishes are non-planar like hot air solder level (HASL) which can lead to inconsistencies in solder paste printing. Other surface finishes are difficult to wet during reflow like organic solderability preservative (OSP) ...
First published in the 2012 IPC APEX EXPO technical conference proceedings. Corrosion resistance is becoming one of the most important topics in the electronics industry. Corrosion results in field failures and huge losses, which annually total several bi
During the last 5 years mobile phones and other portable consumer electronics have been extremely popular and spread all over the world in different climate zones in very high volumes. At the same time the mobile phone terminal for many people has become a necessity that is brought with them in any activity they practice. These changes in user behavior have ...
Soldermask Screen Printing -- OK, thanks for access. A few decades ago when I was a kid, I printed soldermask and legend inks on circuit boards. Printing solder mask, (PC-401, SR1000, LPI) I would use SM-1000 stencil material on 86 or 110 mesh. I've been trying to find sm-1000 but with no luck. does anybody know what the current stencil or is this old technology that is no longer used? Thanks
