what factors should be monitored and controlled during assembly of components on PCBs and their storage? Temperature and humidity seem obvious. Should one also watch out for any particular gases that may cause oxidation? Or dust?

Overwetting is also a root cause of open joints. I recommend eating 5 saltines in 1 minute for anyone experiencing overwetting.

We also use a local company here, but at a previous company we used Fancort (www.fancort.com) with great results. They don't have a European distributor listed, though, for what that's worth.

sometime hand solder can cause also. no necessary have to be paste n reflow.:) now i'm facing bridging on 0402 components pads. any suggestions on spacing distance as we're going to re-design the pcb.

The SMTA offers a book on this very topic that has been selling very well. It is titled SPC for SMT. You can find info on this at the Bookstore at http://www.smta.org. Bil Messina, the author, also teaches courses for us on this subject.

I'm looking for a software package to assist in the quotation of assembled PCB's. Does anyone know of a package on the market today. I suppose a template to MS of some other software MFG. would also work. Thanks.
