AOI false fail PPM

Electronics Forum | Thu Aug 07 22:56:50 EDT 2008 | dlocampo

First all, you must define the specific defects that you wanted to screen out by your AOI system based on its capability, so you can allocate the undetected defects on your other means of inspection methodology. Then optimize your AOI inspection para

YesTech F1 AOI false calls and misses

That's hard to quantify. I deal with escapes when they occur, but I haven't kept track of that data. It doesn't happen to often. But when it does, I take it back to the AOI to analyze why it escaped, and change the algorithm to catch it, if I can.

Most AOI discussion should include assessment of escapes and programming time.

ICT and specifying PCBA testing

Electronics Forum | Fri Mar 26 11:31:34 EDT 2010 | rway

I have been using ICT for a number of years. It is still a viable resource for catching defects in the production process. AOI doesn't catch everything, such as bridging on QFN or J-lead devices (this will depend on the type of AOI and camera syste

PCB exhibit internal short - x-section find cu residue

Electronics Forum | Tue Jul 10 19:16:08 EDT 2007 | 5why

We have filed returned (approx. 5%) of the boards that exhibit inner layer short @ a particular connector locations. X-section revealed there exhibit Cu residue, but aside from that, we also suspect there could be organic contaminant, what test shou

Thomas, We evaluated several AOI machines and narrowed the field to two, YESTech and MIRTEC. We had an opportunity to work with both of these machines on our production floor. In our experience, the MIRTEC machine simply outperformed the competitive

With AOI it really depends on what you are testing. Not only what criteria, but what different types of components. We run a high volume low mix application for automotive checking for presense, positional accuracy, and all solder joints. We curre

AOI False call rate vs defect rate PPM

Electronics Forum | Wed Jun 19 14:40:58 EDT 2024 | davidk

Hello Carl, Thank you for your comment Obviously, we are evolving and debugging our test to get the best results ("no escapes no false calls") :) and using a combination of 3D and 2D tests. With the previous AOI, we had a much higher false call rate,

No Go Gauge for AOI?

Electronics Forum | Mon Jun 01 04:35:16 EDT 2015 | buckcho

Hello, I have seen two different ways in two companies - one they do it before start of every batch, the others do it when a program is made. I am a fan of the first one, but it depends on company policy. Its good when you have to make a lot of chang

Yestech AOI question

Electronics Forum | Thu Jan 13 10:40:38 EST 2011 | tony_d

Good Day Michelle, If you are looking for a solid AOI system that is simple to program and extremely accurate my recommendation is MIRTEC by far. We checked out several machines and narrowed the selection down to two, YESTech and MIRTEC. We had an
