We are having solder fillet finish issue. The solder looks like rough solder on the connector leads .The plating of the leads is Nickel (99.9% purity) and the PCB plating is imersion gold. I have tried fine tuning my reflow profiles an have used N2 i

Below is the long explanation. This defect is most commonly found with BGA components, but can arrise with all components. I see it happening more now with lead free boards that are being assembled with a no clean flux. Best short term remedy is t

5uin. Your nickel thickness is fine. Although if you wanted to trade costs, consider giving-up nickel to 150uin thickness, while increasing the gold thickness. Gold over electroless nickel creates brittle joints because of phosphorous in the nicke

It looks like the inside of the barrels on these holes are not plated. Check some raw PCBs and see. If not, solder isn't going to flow to the top or make anything resembling a good solder joint.

Al, We make stencils, and I was personally involved at AMTX when the electroformed process was developed. Some of this will sound like an ad, but everyone has been volunteering vendors and so look at this as a suggestion. Electroforming is an addit

The aluminum material is typically plated by a zincation process, followed by nickel plate and a gold flash layer. What do the soldered side of the component and the soldered side of the aluminum coin look like? Do they both take solder?
