SMT Programming - Parts Database set-up for contract manufacturer

Electronics Forum | Wed Feb 09 16:09:06 EST 2000 | Doug

Does anyone have any ideas on setting up a parts library/database on an SMT line? We would like to identify a particular part by it's package style, instead of by the customer's part number, in order to reduce the amount of entries in the library.

Q1: Do you use some sort of commercial software for traceability? Or do you have an huge database and some self programmed data-collection tools for each machine? A1: We use commercial database software. Q2: So just why do you have to trace? Just be

Black Barrel - Wave solder defects

Electronics Forum | Tue Aug 24 15:11:32 EDT 2010 | sjohnson

We are experiencing a high incidence of what we call "black barrel" (to differentiate from black pad) with multiple contract manufacturers and PCB vendors. The PCBs are ENIG and during wave solder (SACX-0307) multiple thru-hole components are seeing

I have seen a couple of references to Black Tar, Not Black Pad. Apparently, it occurs only on the solder side of PTH's after wave solder and primarily on the edges of the land. It is characterized by a black coloration (Not Ni corrosion?) and non-wet

Thank you all for your valuable inputs. Have having done some more investigation we have realized that there is actually no standard as such to which the ROHS components have to be manufactured aside from the contains of substances like PB and al o

Good Afternoon, We have just comleted an in depth discussion about just this subject. We also have Mydata equipment and are facing the same problems. These are the conclusions that we came to: 1) Mydata has a formula for creating package names assu
