Why do voltages fall in SMT?

Electronics Forum | Mon Sep 20 10:17:19 EDT 1999 | Jeanjean

Hi all, As a student in elctronic sciences, I'd like to know why there is a difference in the voltage required for PC boards with surface mounted devices and the voltage needed by traditionnal components like leaded film capacitors? I wonder if it

Hello, We are currently trying to design and ultimately implement a system that will be able to count and manage component placement for three Sanyo chipshooters on three SMT lines. As the number of components decreases in the reels we want to be ab

To me, it sounds like a bored quality engineer looking for problems where none exist. I will say that the terminal velocity of a falling reel is below the threshold that would cause damage to typical components. Therefor, it is safe to use a reel th

Many relays use soldered post coil terminatins inside the relay. In one case many years ago I found the SMT relay manufacturer used eutectic solder inside their hermetic relay. The SMT relay would fail because the solder balled up on the post, woul

SMT leadless component solderability finishes

Electronics Forum | Mon Apr 17 16:17:47 EDT 2000 | Dennis Fall

Typically, Sn/Pb solders are used to preserve solderability on leaded and leadless SMT components. Are other finishes (such as those used in PCB manufacturing e.g. Sn, NiAu, OSP's, etc.) frowned upon by PCB stuffers and their customers? I am intere

Hi Stephen, The component falling off is the component that had glue. the component witout glue is being covered by masking during wave. What is the meaning by populated the part and cure it? is it run with solder paste profile or glue profile or yo

OK, this is easy. You say HIGH fall out, so I can assume 25 or 50%? If so, run 10 without the heat gun and 10 with. This should show you if the heat gun process is the cause or not. If the relay is a surface mount, hand solder them on. If it's a

I really hate to ask but must. Are the components that are falling off, the components that don't have glue? Seriously not all the parts on the bottom are glued on? How do they stay on during the wave? The normal way is to run the top SMT as normal
