Bubbles on solder joint(after conformal coating curing)

Electronics Forum | Sun Nov 22 19:59:26 EST 2009 | prodivegsr

Hi Davef, The bubbles occurs at the body also...there's also a washing process before the conformal coating:-the Flux residue are removed after washing. ... The curing profile is also something that we are looking into during the initial troubles

Bubbles on solder joint(after conformal coating curing)

Electronics Forum | Thu Nov 19 22:48:22 EST 2009 | davef

Since the bubbles: * Are only on the solder connection, we'd guess there must be some compatibility issue between the flux residues and the conformal coat materials. * Occur after curing, we'd guess the cure recipe is too rapid and is entrapping voli

Problem with conformal coating

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 17 15:01:23 EST 2005 | davef

We're not familiar with your DYMAX #984-LVUF. The problem is not with your conformal coating. The problem is with your 0805 [and not all of 0805, probably just those from a specific supplier]. This lack of coverage of components is called dewetting

Problem with conformal coating

Electronics Forum | Fri Feb 18 10:10:49 EST 2005 | Frank R.

Thanks Dave, The problem is on all 0805. Do you think it could be a reaction with the flux from the wave or the one in the paste. Do you think the problem is the viscosity of the coating. SPEC = Viscosity 150cP nominal ASTM D-1384. I ask you all

Lowering Nitrogen Levels to burn off flux residue

Electronics Forum | Fri Aug 11 06:48:38 EDT 2000 | GJ

I am currently building boards which have to be conformal coated (done by an outside source) in a no clean process. The conformal coating however, must be applied to a clean surface. The flux residue left from the paste has come into question. I h

GJ: If your supplier uses a conformal coating that "must be applied to a clean surface," then you are using the wrong supplier and no amount of twiddling with your N2 levels will change this. NC fluxes are inherently "dirty" and nothing aside of cle

conformal coatings and flux compatability

Electronics Forum | Tue May 23 12:18:25 EDT 2000 | mike weekes

Which companies would you consider for protective coatings, (conformal coating) and other levels of protection? I am taking a fresh look at alternatives. Know any good tests for testing compatability of coating with flux - aqueous or no clean? SMT

Humiseal 1A33 conformal coating using automated atomized spray

Reaching out to all conformal coating experts, please help! While setting up conformal coating using the automated atomized spray, we observing issues associated with conformal coating wetting on the following regions: 1) Component edges 2) Metalli

Ashok: You should select and use low residue tapes. But ya know, ya go out and research a great tape and if yer not careful, the buyer will second source ya and (surprise) ya got residues again. We have found that Lemme say this about Katon tape

defect on PCB acrylic conformal coating

Electronics Forum | Thu May 09 10:12:08 EDT 2013 | wahahasteven

this is one of my project. I have tried to remove coating only on those areas with alcohol and thinner, then program the machine to coat the removed area again. But the result obviously shows that two different tones of coating on the board. I also
