Mydata magazine repair

Electronics Forum | Wed Mar 18 09:52:40 EDT 2015 | rgduval

You'll want to double check the electronics in the magazines, as well as the mechanicals. Over time, the connectors can come loose, and could affect performance. I'm thinking of the "dead" feeder that you mentioned, while the rest of the feeders wo

Conformal Coating

Electronics Forum | Fri Nov 04 07:28:31 EDT 2011 | duso02

2577 is basically a thinned a RTV so there really isn't a gel version. You can use an RTV like 3145 first or apply un-thinned 2577 by hand around the base of the connectors prior to the spray step.

Cap securing...

Electronics Forum | Sat Oct 29 09:10:17 EDT 2005 | davef

You're correct that Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) adhesive is pretty much a cosmetic when it comes to securing components. Beyond that it contains silicone, which produces unsolderable connections in electronics. Further, many RTV seep acidic

How is everyone coating under these connectors? Is RTV covering the outside so nothing can get in an answer? Or very thin silicone to wick under... http://img302.imageshack.us/img302/1728/dscn24450ac.jpg

Coating under Mil connector....

If you know you have cleaned any flux residues that were under there you could consider a bead of an electronic grade RTV, such as RTV3145. If you trap any uncleaned residues under there you could have long term reliability problems. But, like Dave

Yeah i don't know I have not seen the actual application. RTV was already discussed by the customer and they don't want it. That is what I was thinking too. It is poor design and they are trying to find a cheap way out that doesn't look cheap. Thanks

Josh: Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) is Dow Corning's trade name for it's family of silicone cure sealants. RTV is about the worst kind of coating there is. Its chemistry is highly ionic and it requires atmospheric humidity absorbed to "complete

Conformal coating mask dots and halos

Electronics Forum | Thu Feb 25 10:21:49 EST 2010 | jdumont

My guess would be that the adhesive used on the dots contains silicone. We use 1B73 which is also acrylic and it hates silicone. We use silicone RTV to permanently mask around some connectors and unless its fully cured before coating it will cause l

Usb Type A Connector Help

1) I am not aware of anyone making a snap on plastic housing either. 2) How can components short the connector? Are they dead shorts (components touching). If so, means bad design! 3) Could try some RTV compounds instead of kapton tape. However u wil
