We are looking at potentially doing a pcb that is enig finished as called out on its fab. drawing. We plan on a standard 63/37 water soluble paste. Is there any pro's and cons to this process with a pcb plated as such. What is the main advantage that

We have been using this finish almost exclusively for fine pitch boards for about 5 years. Make SURE you use a board house that does the gold plating in-house. There are some potential issues as DaveF stated. The only problem we have encountered is w

Emmanuel: Take Jax's word. NiAu (ENIG) primary (some would say only) redeeming characteristic is its flatness that you mentioned, but that flatness appeals to folk placing fine pitch devices, rather than BGA. Good luck. Dave F

We're considering an ENIG finish on some of our boards to resolve some coplanarity concerns with 20 mil pitch QFP100s. I welcome any comments on the subject, especially regarding solderability and the variables of ENIG that affect it, but would part

Hello all, Can anyone know what influence has on RF/HF components when using PCB with OSP coating? We are now manufacturing our RF components on PCB with ENIG coating ,and want to use OSP instead. By the way:If anyone can send me an article on this s

Steve, I have just one question. Do you place any other QFP's that have 20mil pitch or less? Do you see the same problems? You might be able to solve the problem using other methods. If not, will the ENIG finish on the boards be a profitable move. I

Steve: Several points: * I don't have any real problems with the paper that you referenced. The hair on the back of my neck did rise a bit when the paper touched-on the higher level of process control required for ENIG. * JAX makes a good point.
