Hello, its simple the Panasonic tape is encoded, the non original splice tape you try to replace is not coded hence error on feeder sensor. we offer Panasonic replacement splice tape, for a sample please contact the office, hope this helps Robi SmtXt

How can I get past error codes upon startup of a Panasonic BM221? There is a password required and this machine was acquired from an auction. Are there default passwords, or is there a way to reset the machine? Thanks

Those Panasonic machines should be able to tell ya pick-up rates form the feeders and shape code errors (components it doesn't recognize). You will probably get a more pick-up errors than anything else. Most of this is due to plastic tape versus pa
