To take our turn at keeping everyone else on the straight and narrow. For more on lead contamination of no-lead solder, look here: http://www.aimsolder.com/techarticles/Lead%20Contamination%20in%20Lead-Free%20Electronics%20Assembly.pdf [We apolog

I have experienced this directly in SMT and wave solder. Fillet lift (can) be a direct indicator to lead enrichment (but its not the exclusive symptom). Lead enrichment in smt joints reduces the interfacial strength shortening the time to creep f

Now see Dave, now I have some good info on why it is "bad", This must be the lead enrichment I have heard about but never got any substantiated data or explanantion. I wonder how much weaker or less reliable these are. Is there any data that you k

Target those specific parts/leads with a thermal-couple and a mole and try to get the peak reflow temps up to 225 C. It's not a cure but it will improve the apperance of the solder joints.

We are starting a lead free line. My question: Is there a contamination issue with running lead free boards and lead boards after soldering through the same board wash machine? I would expect not it, but want to know if anyone has any experience with

Are the components 100% tin plated? Thats what we are buying and we have no problem at all soldering with the same profiles we always have used and we use the same alloy as you but different mfg. We have not had problems soldering tin plated parts wi

Doing a little poll here. How many of you are using lead free paste and what type/brand are you using. We are using Alpha OM338 SAC405. I am not liking it very much so far. It seems to be too viscous. It is definitely the thinnest stuff I have e

Now I've checked the archives on this and found the starts of an answer but not much else, but then that posting was a while ago and I though there would be some more data now. So here's the question: who, if anyone is placeign Pb-free BGA's (ideally

This is one reason why we changed package styles. Maybe consider getting a different size tube, say from 500g to 1000g or something like that. We use jars for lead paste, and tubes for lead free (different application method) If lead free comes off t
