Why would you have troubles if and when you switch? Isn't that the point of materials evaluation? Understanding the impact and material capability BEFORE "betting the farm on it". I would never stake my career on a solder paste without an Engineer

Here is a tip. Do an evaluation on materials. DO not trust what anyone says about solder paste. There are just too may "experts" out there peddling the brand of the week. You can begin with the brands listed, but do your homework. You know your

Sr. Tech it is not as simple as that. Viscosity of material is changing with temperature. So it is liquidus but it makes difference.

if you can't change the PCB materials or design at this point, you might be able to reduce it somewhat through the use of fixtures or edge stiffeners. Unless it is a particularly thick board, I don't think the reflow profile would be the issue. The t

I'd be more concerned with the pcb itself then I > would be with standard SMT components. Are you > using a PCB with a high Tg? (170 degrees C or > greater) The circuit board material is NP-170B (Nan Ya Plastics Corporation). It has a Tg of 170

Who said there was NO evaluation? The paste we chose was evaluated based on a 20 point test score as well as material compatibility. Once we introduced it to manufacturing each line had problems. For one manufacturing treated it as a drop in repla
