Funny, I just had this discussion on LinkedIn. Must be the season. It is always acceptable and preferably to profile every assembly, if you have the time, resources, and equipment to do it. That is the only way to get the most accurate information

I want to ascertain the oven profile required for through hole connectors with solder pre-forms. I need to get double sided PCBs made for that purpose. What is the best way to get these PCBs made to simulate real world conditions?. Should I leave a

Anyone can help me what kind of solder lead use to connect thermocouple wire to pcb for profiling? We use ordinary lead on our profiling and it flats on when reaching 230C temperature. Our required maximum temp is 240C.

We use a universal recipe for 90% of our products. But, I had to develop a temperature profile for each PCB to know that I was getting the correct temperature at the PCB. You may need to work a weekend or a couple of late nights to get the data. Go

Me thinks generic profile + desktop and laptop computer boards= not happy time. Attach thermo-couple to appropriate location on said part/pcb. Make profile same as solder manufacturer / component manufacturer spec. There is no magic heater set poin

Hi, The oven we had used an air sensor, however we had heat from the metal oven walls IR conducting into the board. Once you run an oven, the metal retains a surprising amount of heat, and that radiates as IR energy out of the walls, and into the pr

Drilling a hole, and attaching the thermocouples underneath the part is the recommended way to profile for a BGA, unfortunately. It allows the best method of collecting specific data, including any thermal sinking/shadowing that the BGA creates. Ho
